Application process
Preparation
- If applicable, tape off the baseboards.
- Sand according to NWFA guidelines. We recommend a final sanding grit of 120.
- Vacuum the surface.
- Clean using Raw Wood Cleaner.
- Allow the surface to dry completely.
- Plan ahead for an exit strategy so you do not have to walk over the strain floor. Remember to work in sections that allow you to keep a wet edge.
Application
- Shake Pre-Aging well.
- Mix in a painters tray, stirring thoroughly.
- Begin by applying Pre-Aging along the wall using a cut-in pad.
- Smooth the edges using the Applicator Set.
- Apply Pre-Aging to the field using the Microfiber Bristle Pad. The Microfiber Bristle Pad regulates the amount of Pre-Aging being applied to the surface and is required for application.
- Work along the length of the boards in widths of 10-15". Work over cardboard to avoid drips on the floor.
- Continue working towards your exit point until the room is complete.
- Once complete, allow to fully dry. Approximately 24 hours when there is proper ventilation. It is perfectly normal for the surface to dry in ‘spots’ that follow the grain pattern. As long as the surface still looks ‘spotted’, it is not dry yet.
- Break the wood grain using a buffer with a red buffer pad.
- Vacuum the floor.
- Finish the floor using Oil Plus 2C.
Clean up
- Clean your tools using water, or Raw Wood Cleaner.
