Application process
Preparation
- If applicable, tape off the baseboards.
- Sand to NWFA guidelines. Finish with sanding with 100-120 grit. The color intensity depends on the sanding method used. When refinishing a wood floor, remove any residue from previous finish treatments completely (varnish, oil, wax, etc.).
- Vacuum the surface.
- Clean using Raw Wood Cleaner to eliminate residual wood dust.
- Allow the surface to dry completely.
Application
- Tape off areas of approximately 2-3 feet wide in the lengthwise direction of the boards. You will treat each section, skip each consecutive section, and continue similarly.
- Stir the product thoroughly and regularly with a stirring stick.
- Apply the Precolor Easy with a Microfiber Bristle Pad. Immediately start scrubbing in the applied product with a red applicator pad in a circular motion. Once you notice the scrubbed-in product starts to flash off, immediately start wiping the surface again in a circular motion using a slightly water-dampened rag. Finish wiping in the length of the boards to even out the applied product. Remove the tape along each finished section immediately.
- Now skip a section and follow the instructions in step 3 again for this next section. Finish the whole room in this way (stain-skip-stain) and remove the tape immediately on each finished section. Allow the surface to dry for approximately 12 hours
- Now tape off the untreated areas and apply the Precolor Easy as described in step 3. Repeat until the whole floor is treated. Afterward remove the tape (tip: step on the already dried areas to remove the tape).
- Allow the surface to dry for approximately 12 hours. The exact drying time depends on the foundation, moistening, temperature, and ventilation.
- After drying, break the raised wood fibers with a floor polisher equipped with a red buffing pad and vacuum afterward.
- Apply Oil Plus 2C. Please consult the technical data sheet of the oil for a correct application. Be careful, in combination with Precolor Easy it is best to use a white pad instead of a beige or red one when applying the oil!
Clean up
- Clean your tools using water, or Raw Wood Cleaner.
